If you’re like me, you’re more particular about toys you’d like your children to have. Whether it’s because you want to limit the amount of toys in your home or you're particular about the type or quality of toy, whatever your reasoning is, it can make navigating the holiday season tricky!
We can all agree that the more people in your child’s life who love them and want to make them happy is a wonderful thing! I am so grateful for all the people who love my children and want to light up their life a little more with something special. We definitely want to be mindful of that when navigating gifts around the holidays, but I think it’s also okay to still have your own limits and desires as a homemaker. There’s definitely a way that you can still be gracious, have your little ones enjoying all the blessings of the season and still have some control over your preferences. Well-meaning gift givers not only have great intentions behind their giving, but it’s also usually nice for them too, to be able to have some assistance in the process of what your child will like best and thoroughly enjoy! So, here’s the solution that has worked great for our family and our loved ones…
We keep a running wish list that we publicly share with those who want to gift our kids with special things throughout the year! Having an amazon wish list is such a valuable tool, because it keeps all of your items in one place, with the easy ability to make it shareable to anyone who’s interested. I also use it for myself when I’m wanting to introduce something new into our toy rotation or when I see something I think would be great, but we're not wanting to purchase it right away!
With it, people still have the flexibility to make their own choice in what they’d like to have come from them, but it's a little more narrowed down to make it easier, and still within your own personal limits as well. It’s SUCH a win all around!
Have you tried this? I’d love to know what you think and if you’ve had experience with it!
Wishing you the happiest holiday and gift giving season!
